Storytelling has sustained cultures and communities since the beginning of time. Behind every one of today’s life science product launches, market expansions or value-based care integrations is a story of who this affects, how it affects them, and why people should care. Stone Communications Consulting partners with clients to pay this craft forward. We empower them to choreograph and deliver to their audiences the essence and full suite of what they aspire to do, and an understanding of why it matters.

Stone Communications Consulting is a health care-focused communications consultancy, serving clients in the U.S., Europe and Asia. We support the communication imperatives of organizations in health care delivery (health care systems, physician practices), therapeutics, health care technology, community and global health, advanced illness--hospice and palliative care, and health industry advocacy.

We’ve led communications for some of the country’s largest health care corporations and reported on the industry as journalists. This brings to clients efficiency and a fluency in all aspects of health care communications, and front-line, first-hand expertise building and executing strategies, and defending against reputational harm.

On the receiving end of our clients’ initiatives stands a person. Stone Communications Consulting captures and crisply communicates this storyline with expertise, impact, and value.

MY story

A kid from Cleveland

I’m a kid from Cleveland whose first job after college was reporting agriculture for a TV station in Western Wisconsin. My time ‘in the field’ taught me about a lot more than corn borers and Ag bills. I witnessed the pride that arises through cultivating a livelihood. I admired the spirit and perseverance that farm communities devoted toward reaping healthy harvests. I marveled at their mastery of their machinery.

My curiosity carried me to journalism jobs that led to Minneapolis/St. Paul, all the while asking questions, pursuing follow-ups, crafting stories, and connecting them with viewers. Health, as a lifeblood of wellness and security, became central to my scope; as a reporter, then a PR agency executive, then a corporate communications leader for two of the country’s most potent health care corporations. My soul was rewarded, and my work was awarded.

But beneath the heft and heart and muscle of health care’s renaissance I discovered an Achilles heel; a chasm in communication that’s stunting growth. I learned of visionaries and innovators and practitioners who hadn’t defined and put to use the essence of their product - device - service - to capture why their work matters and how it helps the people they serve.

I founded Stone Communications Consulting to bring my fluency in health care and acumen as a journalist to clients, enabling them to choreograph and communicate what they do, to the audiences they need to reach; governments, regulators, investors, patients, payers, providers, their employees, the public at large. And, the media.

To this day, as in back in the day, I’m committed to the concept of providing the tenacity and tools to help reap meaningful returns.

Jon brought all the passion and energy of an award-winning journalist when he joined our agency — and then developed the capacity to work at a very strategic level with clients.
